J: Klik di "printer configuration" dalam "Knoppix" menu, dan pakai wizard.

==== T: Bagaimana support untuk wheelmouse (roda mouse) saya? ====

J: Ketik "knoppix wheelmouse" di boot prompt. Sayangnya, wheelmice tidak bisa mendeteksi secara otomatis, protokol wheelmouse tidak kompatibel dengan standard protokol ps/2. Jadi, protokol "normal" ps/2 (tanpa support mousewheel) adalah default yang aman.

==== T: Setelah selesai knx-hdinstall saya mencari cara untuk mengfungsikan wheelmouse dalam modus instalasi harddisk. Apa yang harus saya perbuat? Booting dari CD dengan "knoppix wheelmouse" berfungsi dengan baik. ====

J: Ada dua cara ('''BELUM DITES'''):
* Lakukan edit di file berikut: "/etc/X11/XF86Config-4" (buatlah backup sebelumnya)
**tambahkan baris-baris berikut ini ke bagian "Input Device" :
Option "Protocol" "IMPS/2"
Option "ZAxismapping" "4 5"
Option "Buttons" "5"
**Jika ada baris lain dengan protokol lain, anda harus menghapusnya. Sebetulnya ada 3 bagian untuk mouse: serial, PS/2 and usb-Mice. Anda harus menemukan bagian yang tepat.

* Lakukan edit di file "/etc/lilo.conf"
**dan tambahkan "wheelmouse" ke dalam baris dengan "append" (ada banyak sekali baris parameter).
**Kemudian jalankan "lilo -v" dalam root-shell dan berharaplah tidak ada pesan error.

==== T: Saya memakai Microsoft Wireless Intelli Mouse explorer (Optical, USB) dan mousepointer-nya tidak mau bergerak. ====

J: Buka Root-Console (Control-Alt-F2) dan ketik berikut ini:
modprobe -r usbmouse
modprobe hid

Dengan menekan Control-Alt-F5, anda akan kembali ke KDE.

==== T: Saya mencoba memakai dialup tetapi saya malah mendapat winmodem ====

J: Maaf. Ternyata beberapa modem murah sudah memindahkan hampir semua fungsionalitasnya ke software. Linux tidak mempunyai support untuk hampir semua modem ''minim'' ini dan yang terbaik yang bisa anda lakukan adalah memakai modem lain. Anda baru saja menemukan fakta kenapa lebih pantas untuk membeli modem yang bagus. Informasi mengenai GNU/Linux driver untuk Winmodem, lihat [http://www.linmodems.org linmodems.org]

==== T: Graphic card (kartu grafik) saya tidak berfungsi! ====

J: Mungkin kartu grafik paling baru (yang eksotik juga) belum ada dalam database hardware. Ini biasa terjadi dalam linux! Anda dapat mengetik:
knoppix xmodule=vesa
atau
knoppix xmodule=fbdev
di layar boot yang pertama, dan mode inisial XFree86 yang tidak terakselerasi akan menghasilkan layar yang berguna. Versi 31-01-2002 dan berikutnya mempunyai sebuah opsi frame buffer boot (terutama untuk notebook lama) fb800x600 (daripada mengetik dalam knoppix), yang menggunakan resolusi 800x600 pixels dalam mode frame buffer. Tidak tergantung apakah workaround ini sukses atau tidak, support dapat dibuat untuk versi KNOPPIX berikutnya dengan lebih cepat jika nomor PCI dari kartu grafik beserta deskripsi bisa dikirim ke kami melalui mail ("lspci ; lspci -n").

==== T: Auto configuration tidak berfungsi di komputer saya, atau komputer hang saat boot. Saya harus bagaimana? ====

J: Bisa saja berfungsi jika porsi dari auto configuration dilewati. Ini dapat dispesifikasikan dengan "knoppix noscsi" atau "knoppix nopcmcia". Jika masalahnya dapat diidentifikasikan -> mohon kirim pesan error yang nyata dan kalau bisa solusi yang diusulkan menggunakan formulir web di http://www.knopper.net/kontakt/ ! Kadang-kadang output/keluaran dari "lspci ; lspci -n" bisa sangat membantu, terutama jika masalahnya berhubungan dengan identifikasi kartu grafik yang kurang benar.

==== T: mouse PS/2 saya tidak berfungsi! ====

J: Jika mouse pointer graphical user window bergerak kesana kemari, mouse yang dipakai kemungkinan memakai protokol eksotik. Hanya dengan booting ke dalam mode "expert" dan menge-set protokol yang benar untuk sistem XFree akan menolong dalam hal ini. Bagaimanapun juga, jika pointer terlihat di tengah-tengah layar dan tidak ber-respons sama sekali terhadap gerakan mouse , anda mungkin sekali mempunyai board dengan kesalah BIOS yang diketahui (Belakangan masalah ini seringkali timbul dengan notebook). Coba ketik ini
knoppix pci=irqmask=0x0e98
di layar boot dan lihat apakah membantu. Alternatifnya, anda dapat mencari update BIOS untuk komputer anda (lagipula anda ingin lakukan ini khan?).

==== T: Sistem memory saya tidak sepenuhnya terdeteksi, atau komputer langsung hang setelah mulai dengan pesan "Panic: cannot mount root file system"! ====

J: Beberapa board kenyataannya melaporkan ukuran memory yang terpakai secara salah kepada Linux kernel. Solusinya: spesifikasikan ukuran sistem memory sebagai tambahan opsi boot "knoppix". Contohnya, untuk pemakaian 128 Megabytes
knoppix mem=128M
(catatan: yakinkan bahwa huruf besar M diketik setelah ukuran memory!)

==== T: Saya bisa memutar monitor saya. Bagaimana caranya menge-set Knoppix untuk menggunakan mode portrait? ====

J: Lakukan edit di file /etc/X11/XF86Config-4 sebagai root: Di bagian "Device" tambahkan baris berikut ini:
Option "Rotation" "CW"
CW artinya [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Clockwise Clock Wise]. Juga bisa: CCW [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Counterclockwise Counter Clock Wise]).

==== T: Saya sedang mencari modules-floppies untuk di-load [[Emulex]] FC-drivers (hanya untuk demo saja...) - yang mana yang saya pakai, modul fl-images [[Debian]] yang aktual? ====

==== T: Saya punya controller RAID yang tidak punya entri /dev (/dev/cciss/c0d0,/dev/cciss/c0d1, etc.) Bisa tidak ini ditambahkan ke release berikutnya? ====

==== T: Bagaimana caranya meng-update driver untuk kartu grafik terbaru dan mengkonfigurasikannya kembali (untuk hd-install atau floppy-config...) ====

J: Metode paling mudah mungkin dengan cara mematikan powernya, pasang kartunya, boot CD Knoppix versi paling baru kemudian dengan asumsi semua berjalan seperti yang diharapkan, kopi file /etc/X11/XF86Config-4 anda dari cd yang diboot ke dalam instalasi hard drive anda. Ganti nama file /etc/X11/XF86Config-4 anda ke seperti misalnya /etc/X11/XF86Config-4.bak jadi anda masih akan mempunyainya.

==== T:Apa nama-nama untuk mouse? ====

J:
*PS/2 adalah /dev/psaux
*Serial : /dev/ttys0 (mirip seperti COM1 di Windows).
*USB: /dev/input/mice

==== T: Bagaimana saya tahu kalau hardware yang saya beli kompatibel dengan Linux? ====
