You're going to have to supply a bit more information please.
What sound card? Onboard or PCI?
Does it work at all?
Code:
locate *.ogg
play some.ogg
You should hear some sound.
What application are you using to play cd's with? I like cdcd myself a command line tool.
Code:
apt-get install cdcd
cdcd play

If it's just audio from the CD that's not working, run kmix and make sure that the CD volume (not just the master volume) is turned up.
