    compression

can anyone tell me what this means,
    mkisofs -R -U -V "KNOPPIX.net filesystem" -publisher "KNOPPIX www.knoppix.net" -hide-rr-moved -cache-inodes -no-bak -pad /mnt/hda1/knx/source/KNOPPIX | nice -5 /usr/bin/create_compressed_fs - 65536 > /mnt/hda1/knx/master/KNOPPIX/KNOPPIX/
bash: /mnt/hda1/knx/master/KNOPPIX/KNOPPIX/: No such file or directory
Warning: creating filesystem that does not conform to ISO-9660.
genisoimage: No such file or directory. Invalid node - '/mnt/hda1/knx/source/KNOPPIX'.

    mkisofs -R -l -U -V "KNOPPIX.net filesystem" -publisher "KNOPPIX www.knoppix.net" -input-charset ISO-8859-15 -allow-leading-dots -hide-rr-moved -cache-inodes -no-bak -pad $KNX_PATH/knx/source/KNOPPIX | create_compressed_fs - 131072 > $KNX_PATH/knxmaster/KNOPPIX/KNOPPIX
bash: /knxmaster/KNOPPIX/KNOPPIX: No such file or directory
Warning: creating filesystem that does not conform to ISO-9660.
genisoimage: No such file or directory. Invalid node - '/knx/source/KNOPPIX'

i am trying to compress the knoppix file but it keeps giving me problem. i used the command in my hom edirectory

    (1) In the above you should remove the trailing / on /mnt/hda1/knx/master/KNOPPIX/KNOPPIX/
as you are invoking another (non-existent) KNOPPIX Folder instead of the target KNOPPIX file
(I see that you corrected that in the example below)

    (2) Are you sending the command with su privilege ? - you may need that to access the partition where you are remastering...although you must have had such privilege when you were working there as chroot
Can't at the moment see anything else obviously wrong. Are you sure that hda1 is still mounted (and mounted rw) ?

    (3) In the above, your script has not found a declaration (other than, perhaps, the null KNX_PATH="" ), for KNX_PATH=/mnt/hda1 presumably.
Oh, are you perhaps running an incomplete script, missing KNX_PATH= and a mount statement ?

I had a very similar problem.

Did you press CTRL-D as described in the "leaving the chroot" part of the remastering document?

No such file or directory. Invalid node - '/mnt/hda1/knx/source/KNOPPIX'.
This error means that the file can't get created, possibly because you don't have /dev/hda1 mounted anymore. It is not mounted when you enter chroot even if it was mounted before.

    Final conclusion?

So regarding the original issue in this post of the KNOPPIX file not being compressed small enough. What is the best work around, increasing the block size when creating the new KNOPPIX file?

    Thanks!
