Googling blue screen of death returns pages with combinations of "blue," "screen," and "death," omitting "of."

Googling "blue screen of death" (as I indicated) returns the value cited.

    Dallas:

Why does it matter anyway? What's your motive for posting this? You don't like Linux? Fine. Don't use it then.

Frankly, I was just going to ignore you, but then I thought perhaps it would be worth asking you why you bothered to post.......

I use Win XP from time to time and there haven't been any BSOD incidents. So what? This reputation of Windows goes way back, and the title of the book is just suggesting Linux as a solution.

    Don't be so sensitive

Words like "troll" spring to mind, but we are reasonably polite around here AFAIK, so I will refrain from expanding on that thought...

if anything, these "stats" just show how much better the linux community is compared to that of the windows community. if there are more pages talking about kernel panics, that probably means more people helping to fix them.

not valid comparison - linux hits includes developers

Comparing kernel panic to Blue... is not accurate.

    1) Many (if not most) of the linux reports will be from developers
Eg I have written a new driver and when I load it I get a kernel panic.

    2) Blue screen is coloquial - "General Protection Fault" - Results 1 - 10 of about 911,000. Search took 0.18 seconds. This is valid for an older version of windows, but the results are more accurate.

Yes. I met him at PenguiCon. I also saw him there on a panel discussion with Eric Raymond, Rob Landley, and others. Friendly, witty, and an excellent writer as well.
