    Browser Wars

    .
I hope we are not being left behind in the 'Browser Wars'.
Up until recently I had been content to use IceWeasel 10 to do
my web machinations. But now I find there are at least two other
good ideas floating around out there:

First, there is Mozilla Firefox 19, which has a superior built-in
capability to render pdf files within the browser. Much, much better
    than Xournal. Get this at:
    http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/product...t=firefox-19.0

Second, there is Chromium, which can have a built-in capability
to translate full-size screens from one language to another.
Much, much superior to the current Mozilla translation capability,
be it Firefox or IceWeasel. Chromium you can get with Synaptic.
After you have Chromium running, go to Google's Chrome site and
add the Google-Translate app which works just fine in Chromium.
EN users can spy on the DE forum with this combination. And vice versa.

    An important update.

    See: http://knoppix.net/forum/threads/305...949#post128949

This now makes Firefox 19 a real winner, having both pdf and the translation capabilities.

    With respect to rendering pdf

    .
Firefox 19 uses an add-on which in turn uses HTML5 to render pdf files,
and it does a beautiful job. IceWeasel 10 does not reject this add-on,
but seems not to be able to understand HTML5, and does a poor job with pdf
    files as a result.

There may have been an Adobe Acrobat add-on at one time that would serve
IceWeasel, but currently a Documents-Online-Viewer add-on seems the only
thing available to IceWeasel 10, and it does not do a really good rendering
of pdf in some instances: such as a WireShark user manual.

Some good news on the IceWeasel front, perhaps.

    .
I haven't tried it myself, but this may bring Firefox 19 pdf capability to IceWeasel.
