    apt-get couldn`t stat source errors

Installed Knoppix 3.4 to my HD which went smoothly but having always used rpm based distro`s i`m baffled by the fact that with apt-get install (packagename) and with apt-get update I get a host of " W: couldn`t stat source package list " with pretty well all my listed sources which are:

I too could not download the kernel source and other goodies because of repository problems.
Also when trying to install official nvidia drivers, I encountered a problem with different versions of gcc.

As a Mandrake user, I'm used to mirror and update problems, and as a noob I'm used to being up to my ears in trouble. The new 2.6 kernel has many great features ( speed, hardware and graphics support etc) but is also a little buggy. Texstars release of pclinuxos with the 2.6 kernel has been delayed a bit because of bugs. MDK 10.0 official seems pretty stable. I even got 3D
accdeleration with an ati radeon 8500 on a dell laptop.

This is frustrating, but we've all been here before. In time it will be ironed out .I guess it comes
with jumping on the latest and greatest as soon as it's available ( again, nothing new to a mdk user). Woody is outdated, Sid is unstable, mabe Sarge is just right.

I love knoppix and look forward to a resolution of these temporary difficulties. In the meantime, if you want a debian installation, maybe it's best to just go with a debian testing installation with only testing mirrors as apt source repositoriies. Any thoughts?

    cheers

    Thanks for the reply!
I`m also a long time Mandrake user, since 7.2 in fact. and after struggling to get my sound card working in MDK 10 when it worked out of the box in previous versions I finally decided to dump it and try a Debian based distro.
Downloaded Knoppix did a HD install and all in all have found it very very impressive and i`m sticking with it. I won`t be switching back to MDK.
I`m sure I have far to many sources in my list e.g the wireless stuff I simply don`t need and could edit out many of them but as i`m currently bumping into the furniture i`m leaving well alone!
If anyone reading this can help by telling me what sources I can delete i`d appreciate it.
Again, i much appreciate your reply!!!!
