adsl: connecting but not browsing

hi at all the forum...sorry for my english...i have a problem with an adsl connection...the modem is siemens gigaset alice ethernet and when i start the knoppix tool for ppoe it is recognised...the ethernet card nvidious also is recognised...the three lights -lan dsl power- are on...but when i start the browser it is unable to reach any host on the internet...i also tried from console pinging the number of the url (dsl provider telecom or others)...also tried to change the dns numbers with others gave me the provider...nothing...no one knows which can be the problem?

This is common mistake by adsl user............they forgot to set their nameserver given by ISP.

Try set your nameserver in /etc/resolv.conf.
