modprobe: FATAL [...] snd_intel_8x

Hi,
a French user is reporting using Knoppix with a 2.6 kernel,
and experiencing the following error message when booting:

modprobe: FATAL : error running install command snd_intel_8x0.

Any thoughts ?

i am the poor french guy..
i have a sound detection problem using knoppix, kernel 2.6.
This problem appeared when i updated my desktop envoronment, from kde 3.2 upto kde 3.3.
I used synaptic to make this update, and i remember synaptic foreced me to update some libraries (do not remember which ones).

I installed the same knoppix on another partition of my hard drive (kernel 3.6) but without upgrading kde to 3.3, and sound is working fine...
Is it possible, by comparison with the two knoppix installations, to fix this sound problem ?
