Presently I use Knoppix 3.6 Soon after booting with the 2.6.7 kernel, after it detects the eth0 card, the booting stops. I don't really use this card.

However, with the 2.4 Kernel this process in backgrounded and hence complete boot is finished.

How can I achieve the same with the 2.6.7 kernel ?
