start-up problem

i have downloaded Knoppix 3.2
it works without any problems on my ibm notebook
but i have also a PC built by me and the first time i used knoppix on that PC it worked without problems but i started for a second time and it shows the login screen I hit enter, start a hardware detection and then the screen goes blank and the Pc still is working, i have tried several options at login screen but no solution at all... any ideas???

How about some system details? I assume that you have changed nothing on your pc. What cheat codes have you tried so far?

my PC is a:
Pentium 2 400 Mhz
192 MB ram
40 GB Maxtor
Gforce 2 MX400 w/TV-Out (asus V7100pro)
Sound Blaster 16
D-link dfe538Tx 10/100 ethernet adapter
Pc Tel 56k modem PCI
IBM 15"

the last change i have made was 3 months ago changing vga card.

the cheat codes i have used so far are:
expert
knoppix no usb
knoppix xserver=XF86_SVGA
knoppix screen 800x600
knoppix failsafe
knoppix desktop icewm

thanks for any ideas... i have used knoppix 3.1 and i never had this problem

Pardon me as I do not know alot about Geforce but does that card have a digital output? If so try the standard output instead of the digital.

Have you booted like this:

boot: knoppix lang=us wheelmouse xmodule=nv screen=800x600 nousb

I am unsure if you are aware that you can string multiple cheat codes together like I have done in the above line. Note the syntax.

don't use 'wheelmouse' if you don't have one
