Howto make knoppix HD re-scan the hardware?

Does anyone know how to get knoppix HD to re-scan for new/changed hardware? It doesn't automatically check for new/changed hardware, and uses a profile to load modules, so it doesn't recognize new etherne card.

    Thanks, John

Heh. See the other thread. Basically, delete /etc/modules-kernel and reboot.

    Thanks, Ed,

I've been reading through many scripts under /etc/, and ended up running /etc/init.d/knoppix-hd-autoconfig.

This re-scanned and setup everything. Sounds like from what you suggest, that knoppix will do the same thing automatically if /etc/modules-kernel is missing.

I have the impression that these items would solve a lot of the hardware issues being discussed in these forums.

BTW, which other thread that you mention?

    regards,

    johnpipe

Hey, fixing it without rebooting is even better - good job!
