Thanks for the hint, but what's the name of the board?
I had a problem getting networking and other stuff going. dmesg showed the following:
PCI: PCI BIOS revision 2.10 entry at 0xfdb01, last bus=1
PCI: System does not support PCI
apm: BIOS version 1.2 Flagss 0x03 (Driver version 1.16) IAL_PCI ISAPNP enabled
hdd: driver not present
One of our LUGOD members (Mike Simons) solved it for me.
On startup
knoppix pci=bios
worked. I made the change permanent in grub.conf
