I recently installed Knoppix as a single-user, dual-boot system. No problems with the installation and configuration. Then I downloaded synaptic. When I finished synaptic was password protected. I also found out that my printer configuration was also password protected. Perhaps other applications are too.

This is a single-user setup that didn't require a password and I never chose one. Now I'm locked out by a password I didn't set. I've tried several obvious guesses such as knoppix and root, but nothing worked.
