Add new user after successful HDD install?

Hi to everybody,

hdd install of Knoppix 4.0 (debian-default) was done in 20 min. and works fine. However, a new user added in the KDE program does not appear in the startup menu. What was wrong? Or, where new users have to be added?

Can the new user log in at all? That is, if you manually enter the username then the password, does it work? If so just run kcontrol. You need to select login manager, and run it in administrator mode (or whatever it is it calls it--you just need to feed it your root password), and the last two pages of the display control who is set up to log in.
