I'm running the DVD 4.0 on a Dell Inspiron 8000. Everything is working fine, except for sound! The sound system is properly detected and recognized at startup. When KDE starts, it starts Kmix, and shows "SigmaTel STAC9721/23" at the bottom of the window.
The laptop has an ESS Maestro 3 chipset.
If i go to Control Center and check the box that says "Enable Sound System", it pops up a status bar saying it is starting the sound system, bit it just keeps cycling that box. I've tried setting the audio device to the different sound systems (ALSA, OSS, etc).
Any ideas?
