    FINDING NETWORK CARD

    I'm trying to install debian, but it doesn't find my network card..

    Knoppix, that is Debian related, find correctly the ethernet card...

    I want to know what drivere knoppix use, how it is configured and how i can help debian to find him...

    Pls help me soon!!

    MORE INFO

    I have a Gigabyte Motherboard: GA-K8NS

    Manual refer to the ethernet adapter as ICS 1883.

    My network is based on an all-in-one adsl modem - router - switch.

    My computer is quite new, it have 1GB RAM & an AMD athlon64 @ 2800 processor...

    Can u help me?

    I can't, but now that we know what NIC you have there is a much better chance that a more experienced Debian user (perhaps Underscore) can.

    According to the motherboard's manual it is a Nvidia nForce 3 250 chipet with a Marvell 8001 chip for the onboard lan. The linux kernel driver you are looking for is sk98lin and if it is included with Knoppix it should be automatically loaded. This however may not help you much as the sk98lin may or may not be in Debian Sarge 3.1r1 stable. You may have to use a debian testing or debian unstable kernel to get it to work.

    So what i have to do?

    i have not a geat confidence with linux..

    Now i know wat driver knoppix use, but i dont know how to give this driver to Debian during the installation, when it sey me that it don't find a correct driver and ask me a disc...

    some tip?

    In my dhcp lan I do the job with the # dhclient command.
