help networking problem

please help me i am a newbie and i have a few questions ok my first and most important i just installed knoppix on my hard drive after i formated it but now it wont detect the internet(its just a lan cord plugged into the back of my computer) the next Q is where can i learn how to use the emulatuion program and the rest of knoppix(im confused and need help!!! )

You changed it to "help networking problem" in a networking forum? You just don't get it, do you?

And to top it off, it's not a networking problem! It's a problem from doing something that there are plenty of warnings about not doing (including in the link that I gave you) and result of ignoring those warning has often been your reported experience over all the years that this website has been trying to offer advice. (I didn't know that when I made my first post because the subject line was so lame that I didn't even read the post).
