apt-get install packet under Knoppix LIVE

what happens under Knoppix LIVE when I'm doing apt-get install packet ?
the packet will be installed on the harddisk or it will be written only temporary into RAM ?

It goes into ram but if you make a persistent image, it will be saved on HD adn will be available in a future session.
