In a pivot_root install on external usb HD environmental variables are not accepted from my home .bashrc:

/home/francesco/.bashrc

Tha 'bashrc originally consists of

# /etc/bash.bashrc
[ -f /etc/profile ] && . /etc/profile]

I tried inserting the environmental variablel in

/etc/profile

Does not work. Still to be set manually any time I want to run my molecular modeling package.

How to solve the trick, ie, where to insert env variables?
