unable to mount vfat...

When i try to mount vfat then i get an error message::

Could not mount device.
The reported error was:
mount: wrong fs type, bad option, bad superblock on /dev/hdc5,
missing codepage or other error
In some cases useful info is found in syslog - try
dmesg | tail or so

what do i do now????

1.Are you running from a live CD/DVD, or with an HD-installed Knoppix (and which version) ?
2.If HD-installed, what is your User Name?
3.Post the contents of your /etc/fstab file for us to see.
