Hi,
~
I have been getting lots of lines in my dmesg dump looking like:
~
"APIC error on CPU0: 01(01)"
~
and then I occasionally see also errors looking like:
~
"spurious APIC interrupt on CPU#0, should never happen."
~
I got a Seagate Barracuda 7200.7 ST3160023A 160GB Hard Drive
~
running fdisk /dev/sda tells me
~
Disk /dev/sda: 160.0 GB, 160041885696 bytes
255 heads, 63 sectors/track, 19457 cylinders
Units = cylinders of 16065 * 512 = 8225280 bytes

Device Boot Start End Blocks Id System
/dev/sda1 1 2491 20008926 83 Linux
/dev/sda2 2492 9963 60018840 83 Linux
/dev/sda3 9964 19457 76260555 5 Extended
/dev/sda5 9964 19457 76260523+ c W95 FAT32 (LBA)
~
What do these errors actually mean? What is causing it? is it hardwareo or software related or both?
~
Is it anyway to fix them
~
the version of knoppix I am using is 5.1.1 (the latest)
~
thanks
