I am receiving this error message when running knoppix:

Error: No suitable x-server found for your card
INIT: no more processes in this run level.

What graphics card is in your machine?
Have you tried appending the boot pararmeters

knoppix xmodule=vesa

If your graphics card can use vesa resolutions, this option may work
