    PROBLEMS WITH USER KNOPPIX REMASTERING

    Hi all, I`m trying to remaster knoppix. I am using knoppix 5.1.1 and I've got 2 problems:

    - my copies are allways over 700MB with just 1 or 2 packets installed and the biggest ones removed.

    - Some of my copies asks me for login at a blue background when starting.

    Anyone knows why? Am I missing something? I've tried so many times.

    Any chance you could post them for all of us to see?

    The only reason I have not posted is that, firstly they are merely based on the info on the wiki page for re-mastering (so they are not really my work) and secondly, I'm new to linux and my scripting is quite basic.
    However, if you are happy with all that here they are. There are three scripts but each calls the next automatically. They only run from a CD boot version of knoppix in text mode, init 2 and you need to pre-prepare a hdd. Change the variables at the beginning on the main script to meet your needs. My hdd is hdax: hda1 is the swap drive, hda2 is where I store a hard drive install of knoppix, hda3 is where I store extra files required for the customisation and hda4 is the place where all the work takes place . NOTE: My script formats hda4 each run (I just found everything more reliable that way!) - you have been warned.

    hda3 requires the following :
    hda3/BuildFiles - 45xsession, boot.msg & isolinux.cfg
    These house all my replacement graphics files. EG: hda3/BuildImages/background_1600x1200.jpg
    hda3/BuildImages/background.jpg
    hda3/BuildImages/knoppix-24-1.jpg
    hda3/BuildImages/knoppix-header_560x200.png
    hda3/BuildImages/knoppix-header.jpg
    hda3/BuildImages/knoppix-header.png
    hda3/BuildImages/splash_top.png

    Copy all three scripts to / and enter ./install1.sh
    These are my latest V5.3 and not finished yet, last option not yet written! Others all OK.
    Now the scripts (warts and all):
    install1.sh
    Code:
    #!/bin/bash
    # >/dev/null 2>&1
    # rsync -Ha --ignore-existing /etc/skel/{.kde*,Desktop} $HOME/ 2>/dev/null
    # Remove {.kde*,Desktop}
    # On optimise version change mkiso or gen iso settings from 65536 to 131072
