I'm running an Acer Aspire laptop and the right click does work, however, when testing from the CD, I tried clicking, brought up menu, selected preferences and advanced and then selected, on the advanced tab from the right clicked show menus provided by windows managers. From that selection, my right click didn't work, or not that I knew how to use.

Fortunately, since I was running from Boot CD, after I restarted, I was able to start over.

Not sure if this is your issue, but seemed similar.
