SMPlayer won't start on Knoppix 7.4.2

Well, the topic says it all: SMPlayer won't work in Knoppix 7.4.2. I have Live DVD, BTW. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

This may not be much help, but:

I'm not a user of SMPlayer, but I see that it is installed and working by default in my Knoppix 7.4.2.
By working, I mean there is an apparently working GUI to be dealt-with.

The experts will want to know just what are your symptoms in some detail,
and what your video hardware parameters are, in order to help you.
