I have installed java jre8.1 onto Knoppix 7.6 that is installed unto my hard drive, however when I run java -version from a terminal it tells me there is no such file in /usr/bin/ so I went there to look and there is a file named java there that is executable. I have tried to install it through a package to no avail as well. I don't understand why it's not recognizing the java file.
