Kernel probelems

Im new to compiling kernels in debian... I compiled the kernel and installed it, changed lilo to see the new kernel but it still boots the kernel that came with knoppix???? what am i doing wrong????

any help would be appreciated.....

Did you run /sbin/lilo -v after changing the /etc/lilo.conf? If not then your changes were not written to the disk.
