iso wont burn

i am trying to burn knoppix on a windows system with Roxio ez cd creator, but the *.iso file i downloaded is 716 mb. The program will not burn it becasue it is too big to fit on my 700 mb cd-rw. is there a way to burn it onto a cd and not a dvd???

Where did you get the iso?
All iso's I've seen for knoppix are just under 700 Mb.

Haven't used roxio myself, but you could look in the help for overburning.

Where did you get the first one ? The original Knoppix iso:s are all slightly less than 700MB and should all be identical on the mirrors listed on knoppix.org. If you download from some unofficial site and the stuff you download is supposed to be a copy of the original you should at least get the md5 file from an official mirror and verify your iso, if it doesn't match it is possible that someone has put a Trojan Horse in it.

If you mean just knoppix by distros, they shouldn't be of different size for the same version.

You could verify the iso by downloading also the md5sum text file and compare it to the iso.

No they are not. They might be 730 million bytes but that is still less than 700MB (1 MB is 1024*1024 B)

Nope, if you got the latest one (3.3-2003-11-19) it was about 716728 KB, which is about 699.93 MB
If you did get it burned please tell us how so someone else struggling with the same burner software can find the solution here.

well, it turns out that the cd i was using was only 650 mb....wow im stupid lol
