Fsck is what you want, I think. Try "man fsck" and see if that's what you need. It's the basic filesystem checking/repairing tool, and it works on a number of different filesystems.
Scandisk and defrag are -- you know this -- DOS utilities. Linux doesn't have "real" equivalents. As it doesn't fragment disks to anything like the same extent as Windows, fsck will run (depending on the filesystem) automatically every 30 - 40 bootups. It's very rare to see a Linux filesystem that's more than 0.5% fragmented.
Very seldom you'll be asked to run fsck manually. It'll fix all the errors it can. There are also Linux tools which will map out bad sectors, but the chances are you'll never need them with a modern drive.
