good day all,
could someone point me in the direction of a good programming website that teaches beginners the basics of programming in linux or windows?
here of what I would like to learn:
C++ and Java.

I will probably take a programming class next year, my senior year of high school. But I would like to start learning now.

Cay Horstmann is an great author/professor who writes textbooks for Wiley on C++ and Java as well as documentation for Sun. He has 2 books that are very good:

Computing Concepts with C++ Esstentials
Computing Concepts with Java Esstentials

Click on either of these on Cay's website and you'll find the lab manuals. If you would like to use the textbook that goes with the labbook, click on the www.wiley.com/college link.

You can easily download any number of programming books in Pdf form from Xmule or what have you ...
