Hello,

I have a FIC Sahara 1000 PC (Cel 533, 512mb, 10gb ps/2 mouse and kybd), with a USR Sportster 56k External (sportster 568903 model 0701) connected to com2.

My problem is that if I boot off of a Knoppix 3.3 CD, the Kppp works fine (I am using it to connect to my ISP and write this), however I loaded Knoppix to the harddrive and every time I attempt to configure the modem using kppp, kppp cannot find the modem. I have attempted hardware resets to the modem, reinstalled the os using knx-hdinstall to a ext3 fs and also reiserfs, and tried both com1 and com2 as well as AT commands via console to /dev/modem with no results.

Any help that can be given is appreciated.
