Dell Latitude D510 Vintage Windows XP Laptop UPGRADED TO Pentium M 2.13GHz 2GB:
$199.00

Dell Latitude D510 vintage laptop in good working condition, running Windows XP Professional SP3. This is a really nice example of an early/mid-2000s business laptop and would make a great dedicated Windows XP machine for retro software, older games, legacy hardware, or simply experiencing the XP era on period-correct hardware. One of the biggest upgrades to this particular D510 is the processor. This machine originally came with a much slower Celeron M, but I personally upgraded it several years ago to a Pentium M running at 2.13 GHz and repasted the processor during the upgrade. The BIOS confirms the 2.13 GHz Pentium M. It is paired with 2 GB of DDR2 RAM, which is a very usable configuration for Windows XP.The laptop boots successfully into Windows XP and is working well in my testing. Device Manager is shown in the photos with the hardware recognized and no obvious missing-device warnings.Another unusually nice feature for a laptop of this age is that the removable battery still works and holds a charge. The BIOS currently reports the battery as “performing normally,” and it was showing 98% charge while disconnected from AC power in the photos. I have not performed a full timed battery-runtime test, so no specific runtime is guaranteed, but it is great to see an approximately 20-year-old laptop with a battery that is still functioning. The plastic release/locking latch on the battery itself is damaged. This does not prevent use of the computer or battery. The battery can still be locked/unlocked by moving the remaining mechanism on it manually with a small tool/spudger. The battery is removable and replaceable as originally designed. And since this damage is on the battery and not on the laptop itself, you could easily just buy a new battery if it bothers you and never have to deal with this again .Please see the detailed photos.Cosmetically, the laptop is in good overall condition for its age with normal signs of previous use, including scratches, marks and wear. Please examine all photos closely for the exact cosmetic condition. The CMOS/RTC battery has not been specifically tested and, due to the age of the machine, should be considered as-is most likely needing replacement. The D510 is from an era when business laptops were designed to be much more accessible and serviceable than most modern machines. The removable battery, accessible internal components, modular optical drive, numerous legacy connections and substantial selection of I/O make it particularly useful as a retro/legacy computer. It includes USB, Ethernet, modem, VGA, parallel, serial, FireWire, PC Card and other period connections shown in the photos. This would be a great machine for someone looking for a real Windows XP-era laptop rather than attempting to recreate the experience on modern hardware. Between the upgraded 2.13 GHz Pentium M, maximum 2 GB RAM configuration, functioning removable battery, DVD-RW drive and extensive legacy connectivity, it is a particularly fun D510 to preserve and use.Included:
