On offer is the final release of Autodesk's legendary DOS 3D modelling/rendering software. Along with the Installation CD are all the manuals:Installation Guide,Reference Guide, Tutorials, Advanced User's Guide, and New Features.
You'll also find a CD of Pacific Beach, a scene in 3DS format, which wasn't part of the original package.
WHAT'S MISSING:The hardware lock / dongle is long gone. So is the 3.5" first-boot floppy. BUT! Included in this lot is a CD with a full, working install of the program to transfer to your favorite DOS machine.
That CD also contains a bunch of random 3DS models collected over the years.
I've had a blast working with 3DS4...I hope it'll go to another vintage software nut who'll try it out.I've run the program without problems using the DOSbox emulator. Be warned, 3DS4 was no rendering speed demon by modern standards, and DOSbox slows it down even more.
Another word of advice: if you fancy giving this fascinating program a go, do the tutorials andkeep that Reference Guide handy!This is not user-friendly software!
(For example there is no undo--you must "hold" before doing something big so you can "fetch" it back if something goes wrong. Otherwise--sorry, Charlie! That'll keep you on your toes!)
