Vintage Apple Macintosh 512K – Tested Working

Original Apple Macintosh 512K compact Macintosh. The computer has been tested and successfully bootsSystem 3.2 / Finder 5.3from an external Floppy Emu connected through the Macintosh external floppy port.

The computer boots normally and operates in Finder. Display, keyboard/mouse operation and the external floppy interface have been tested successfully.

Testing performed:

• Powers on and boots successfully
• Boots System 3.2 / Finder 5.3 from external Floppy Emu
• CRT displays a clear, usable image
• Keyboard and mouse operation tested
• External DB-19 floppy interface tested and working
• Finder/system operation confirmed
• Internal 400K floppy drive partially tested

Known issues / condition:

•Case damage:There is a cracked/broken area on the upper-left side of the case near the front bezel, including missing plastic and exposed underlying material. Please see the close-up photos. The case remains assembled and the computer operates normally despite this damage.

•CRT:The display is functional and produces a clear, usable image, but there is some minor visible flicker. There is also a small scrape on the CRT glass.

•Sound:No audible sound was observed from the internal speaker during testing. Changing the system volume produces no audible response. Cause has not been diagnosed.

•Internal 400K floppy drive:Partially tested. The drive detects inserted media and prompts to initialize unrecognized disks, but I did not have a known-good 400K Macintosh disk available to verify successful reading. Attempts to format the available media were unsuccessful.

•Floppy eject:The automatic eject mechanism does not function. Disks can be successfully removed using the manual eject hole.

No attempt has been made to repair or diagnose these issues internally.

Floppy Emu and software shown during testing are NOT included.

This is approximately 40-year-old vintage computer equipment. Only the functions specifically described above have been tested. No guarantee is made regarding untested functions or future operation.
