Up for sale is an exceptionally rare piece of British computing history: an authentic Newbury 7009 Intelligent Visual Display Terminal (VDU) from around 1980, manufactured in the United Kingdom by Newbury Laboratories Ltd.These smart terminals were used in the late 70s and early 80s to interface via RS-232/V24 serial ports with powerful minicomputers and mainframes, such as the DEC PDP-11 and VAX systems. Today, very few units survive globally, making this a highly desirable museum-grade item for vintage computer collectors and restorers.Technical details from the rear badge:- Model: 7009- Serial No: 85462- Supply: 220V / 50Hz (Factory European Version)Condition:The terminal is in very good, clean cosmetic condition for its age. The plastic chassis, integration bezel, and the full keyboard are remarkably well-preserved with no major cracks or deep physical damage. All keycaps are present. Testing notes: When plugged into the mains power supply, the unit receives power and turns on (internal humming can be felt), but the CRT monitor remains blank and no cursor appears on the screen. No further technical testing has been done.
