Seeking info on LXDE CPU Usage Monitor

    .
Is there any user-level documentation on
    the LXDE CPU Usage Monitor?

I would like some insight on how-, or even whether-,
this 'app' handles multiple-cpu installs of Knoppix.

    See http://www.pclinuxos.com/forum/index.php?topic=83384.0.

Basically it depends on what level your user is.

You may also want to try HTOP in a terminal. I just picked up 6.4.4 after a long time away, and I know this utility handles and displays multiple cpus. That, combined with memory and swap usage is the first thing I check after a Knoppix install. I was so glad to see it included by default in Knoppix. You may want to compare HTOP with the lxde cpu usage monitor and see if they agree...

    Hi, dram.

Thanks for the idea & comment.

I've also toyed with conky, but that requires learning
a lot of arcane syntax to really use it well.

I have a two-cpu laptop, and I'd like to know more about
the applet on the lxpanel of 6.4.4. I'm really not sure
    what it represents.

I'd like to display iconically, for each cpu, side-by-side
one small visual display ala conky but smaller on the lxpanel.
Or use the given display but assign one for each cpu.

I've not found any 'user's manual' for the applet we've got.
If there is one, that might solve my problem.

System Monitor 2.28.1 available via Synaptic gives
a very nice window display for 2 cpus, memory & network
activity. Also contains a task manager, obviating any
need for lxtask. I've replaced the LXDE panel applet
and lxtask with this. It's an LXDE System Tools menu
    item now.

CPU Frequency Scaling Monitor 2.30.0, part of gnome-
applets gives useful iconic indications of SMP demand
activity for Ubuntu 10.04.2 LTS. However, a necessary
overhead of gnome library dependencies make it a poor
choice for LXDE desktops. I'd like to see an LXDE
look-alike for this (or these) applets.
