Buy it now, a nice Original MITS Altair 8800 Microcomputer. This computer is 47 years old, and has not been turned on for at least 40 years.


The Altair 8800 is the one that started it all, it is considered to be the first true Microcomputer.


This may be the last time you will be able to buy one in nice shape for under $10,000.

Like the saying goes "The time to buy it is when you see it".


This computer is in it's original state. Most of these computers were altered to try and keep up with the newest technology but this one was left in original condition. Most collectors are never going to turn these computers on, so the additions made to them only hurt the value, and take away from their originality.


The computer comes with 4 boards, First is the MITS CPU BD Rev 0, The IC’s on the CPU Board are from 1975 and the white ceramic 8080 Microprocessor appears to be original and is dated from 1976. The Second Board is a Processor Technology 3P + S I/O This board is used to connect to Parallel or Serial devices like keyboards or modems. The Third board is a Thinker Toys Speakeasy, it is another I/O board that was used as a Cassette Interface. The Fourth Board is a LOGOS I with 8K of Ram.


No cables or other external devices are included in this sale. Included in this sale is an original User Manual with its original Binder that is full of information.


If you are looking at this listing you already know what this is, if you want more information, the internet is full of websites devoted to early microcomputers. The Computers from this era are hobbyist machines, not consumer grade pieces of equipment, and most required some owner tweaking to work properly. These were not plug and play devices.


This Computer is being sold AS-IS. No Returns.

I have not plugged it in, and have no idea if it is working or if it will need repairs to get it started. I am including many pictures so you will have a good idea of what you are buying.


The Buy It Now price is $5999. I have pulled the four boards out of the computer because the boards are known to come loose during shipping and brake the guides off the Mainboard. They will be well packed to protect them. As for shipping, I only ship FEDEX Ground Insured and it must be signed for.I will only ship to the Continental United States.

As for shipping, I am charging a flat rate of $250, if it turns out to cost less I will refund the overage if it cost more I will take the loss. I will not ship to an address outside the United States of America.
