Product Description Installation is as straightforward as it gets

You just need to drill a 1 1/4-inch hole on your firewall. Trim the tapered end of your boot\'s according to the tubing/wire bundle\'s thickness and then feed the tubing/wire bundle through the grommet end of the firewall boot. Fit the grommet to the newly drilled hall on your firewall. The grommet end should snugly fit on the hole. The last step will be to secure the wire bundle by wrapping a zip tie by the newly trimmed end of the boot.

Take note to always double-check what\'s on the other side of the spot you are planning to drill into. There\'s a real risk of hitting the main wiring. Also, it is always advisable to drill a pilot hole on the firewall surface before proceeding. One of the best drill bits to use for this situation is a step drill bit.

Scared of drilling holes through your firewall? Most of the time, there are preexisting holes on your firewall that you can use. Most of these holes have sturdy seals but depending on your car model, there may be unused firewall opening hidden behind insulation or even under the carpet.

There could also be a preexisting wiring loom that passes through the firewall. It\'s can be feasible to use this avenue but you risk damaging the wires on the loom and besides, you can\'t use a firewall boot on an already overcrowded hole. The risk of pinching the wires is high in this method. The best solution is to use an opening you can install a universal firewall boot into and most of the time, this means drilling a hole through your firewall.

The firewall insulation helps eliminate the noise coming from the engine - noises you won\'t want hammering on your ears as you drive. But once you drill a hole on the firewall and run wire through it, you\'re creating a weak link that will allow noise to pass through. That\'s why it\'s important to use a firewall boot that does not only prevent the wires from chaffing but also acts as soundproofing and weatherproofing seal.
