booting from a laptop with NO cd but it does have a floppy

ok what i have is a toshiba Portege pent 300...128 meg of ram 4 gig hard drive...with dual boot 98/win2k on it........what i want to be able to do is put Knoppix in a directory (i can transfer it to the hard drive via my network)...and boot from a floppy to get to knoppix...is this possible? i would rather not do a full install because this computer is a bear to get an os back on it without a cd.(seroget laptop is needed)...so my only option is easy boot

    thanks

    Salve Mike!

    not much
    >with dual boot 98/win2k on it.
you mean 4 gig with dual boot - not 4 gig free space?

    >.......what i want to be able to do is put Knoppix in a directory (i >can transfer it to the hard drive via my network)...and boot from a >floppy to get to knoppix...is this possible?
    yes, see http://www.knoppix.net/docs/index.php/PoorMansInstall

    >i would rather not do a full install because this computer is a bear >to get an os back on it without a cd.(seroget laptop is needed)...so >my only option is easy boot
Do you have onother PC? Than you can use Knoppix for back up your
    Laptop.
When your Laptops has a build in Networkcard, and your Bios support PXE, and you have a second PC, you can use the second PC as Terminal-Server and boot Knoppix via Network:
    http://www.knoppix.net/docs/index.php/FaqPXE

--BTW, you can get laptop 2.5" HD adapters that will allow you to connect the drive to a standard IDE cable.

    See: http://www.pccables.com/00504.htm for more info.
