small screen size

I am running knoppix v3.8 on a friends laptop (boot disk).
And there is an extremely small screen size.
Dell insperon 1100

How can i fix this. I tried installng drivers but it gave me a kerrnal error

When the cd boots and pauses instead of pressing enter try the cheat code knoppix xmodule=fbdev
