Fantastic response.. i'll stick to MS bye
I have knoppix running off a USB drive and it works fantastic. Only thing is I want to change file etc but I get permission denied . I dont want to have to use shell all the time how do I chnage my user to root .. set up a user with admin permissions then log that user onto the desktop ?
Fantastic response.. i'll stick to MS bye
oh, using root all the time is only way to get viruses and malware in linux.
I would suggest to only use that when nessesary, for example using the file manager as root as little as possible (open a console and type sudo konqueror).
this is a MUCH safer way to use Linux. and to be frank i use that perhaps once a week or less, true, this is much helped byme knowing setup things to begin with.
In Knoppix 5.3.1 CD there is a menu item 'Root Terminal' that might do it.
